Must Read Information for Scenic Passengers

  1. Where does the flight depart from?
    The flight departs from Knocksedan Heliport, Naul Road, Swords (behind Dublin Airport). Click here for directions.

  2. How many passengers can the Bell 407 carry?
    Our Executive VIP Helicopter carries 6 passengers plus the pilot. All scenic flight vouchers are per personae - one voucher equals one person.

  3. Where is the lunch served after the flight?
    The lunch is served at Gourmet Food Parlour, North Road, Swords (click here for directions). Heli Services Ireland will book you in with the restaurant and your name will be on a list for lunch after your flight. You need to provide your own transport from Knocksedan to Gourmet Food Parlour. Please note that any extras to your lunch such as drinks, starters, desserts and supplements on certain dishes must be paid directly to Gourmet Food Parlour on the day.

  4. Can my friends and family join me for lunch after the flight?
    Yes. You can bring friends and family and they can join you for lunch at Gourmet Food Parlour - any refreshments & additional meals for non-flying passengers can be paid to the restaurant separately on the day. Bookings for these meals must be made in advance by email to info@heliservicesireland.ie.

  5. Can we talk to the Pilot?
    Yes. Each passenger has an individual headset to listen to the Pilot's commentary and to ask questions.

  6. Are there restrictions on disability?
    With regard to disability and we will endeavour to ensure that we can cater for your requirements in accordance with Aviation Safety Regulations. With regard to wheelchair users, due to safety regulations, a paraplegic passenger will require one able bodied adult to assist them while a quadriplegic passenger will require two able bodied passengers to assist them in the event of an emergency. For vision impaired passengers – we require a sight able bodied passenger to accompany them on the flight. For hearing impaired passengers – we require an adult with full hearing to accompany them on a flight. For passengers with learning difficulties - we require one able bodied passenger to accompany 2 persons with learning difficulties on the flight. Please contact us directly to check the requirements needed for any passengers with any disabilities and we will assess the requirements on a case by case basis.

  7. Are there restrictions on age?
    We take passengers of all ages. However, children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult. Babies under 2 years can avail of a lap seat free of charge (i.e. sit on a parents knee with an extension seat belt). However, children 2 years and older must have their own seat and therefore must purchase a seat at full price.

  8. Are there restrictions on weight and height?
    Passengers weighing over 100kg and passengers over 6 foot 6 inches in height need to contact us directly before purchasing a voucher to discuss seating restrictions.

  9. How long is the flight?
    The flight is 15 minutes long.
     
  10. What items are not allowed on the flight.
    We will go through all dangerous goods during our safety brief. However, you will be asked to leave certain items behind during your flight. Some of these items include the following:
    • Any handbags, Camera Bags
    • Any lighters, matches, e-cigarettes
    • Aerosols ie hairspray, deodorants
    • Sharp objects ie scissors, nail files, tweezers,
    • Any liquids ie bottles of water, drinks
    • Any loose clothing such as hats and scarf’s must remain in the hanger and cannot be worn for the flight
    You will be asked to leave any of these items in the Hanger during your flight.

  11. Where does the flight go?
    Taking off from the helipad at Knockdesan you will immediately climb to 1500 ft. before heading northbound to take in the charming towns of Ashbourne and Dunshaughlin. You will then change to an easterly direction where your pilot will point out in the distance the port town of Drogheda, and the beautiful Coley Peninsula in County Louth. Tracking along the coast you will experience unparalleled views of the charming coastal suburbs of Sherries, Lusk and Rush and the picturesque maritime town of Malahide. This is one of Dublin’s most beautiful regions where you can admire Dublin Bay, Lambay Island and the national visitor attraction at Malahide Castle. Routes may vary depending on traffic control restrictions.

  12. What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my flight?
    Heli Services Ireland monitors the Aviation met and if they deem it to be unsuitable to fly you will be notified as soon as possible beforehand by text but usually within 24 hours of your flight. We want to give you the best experience from your flight so if the weather is unsuitable to fly a scenic flight then we will reschedule your flight for a new date. An email will be sent with new dates for this flight. We do not issue refunds in the event of a flight being cancelled but will reschedule you.

  13. If I need to cancel my flight until another day, how much notice must I give?
    We operate a strict 72 hours' notice cancellation policy. All cancellations must be made to Heli Services Ireland via email to info@heliservicesireland.ie.

  14. What happens if I don't turn up on the day - do I lose my flight?
    You are classed as a no show and the vouchers/monies are no longer valid or refundable.

  15. What happens if I am late for my flight or late for my safety brief?
    If you arrive late for your flight or your safety brief you are classed as a no show & monies/vouchers are non-refundable.

  16. What time do I arrive for my flight at?
    Flight times will be confirmed a few days in advance of your flight by email & text. However you need to arrive 30 minutes before your flight time for your safety brief. Failure to do so can be classed as a no show. Please note that the helipad has no coffee shop or local shops on site so its best not to arrive any earlier than 30 minutes beforehand as we only have a small reception area.

  17. How do I book a flight?
    Contact Heli Services Ireland by email; info@heliservicesireland.ie. We will require number of vouchers, gift voucher numbers, names of each passenger (this may be changed later if required), contact mobile number, email address & whether or not the passenger has special needs. No bookings can be made/confirmed without the voucher codes for each voucher.

  18. Are flights available every day?
    Our scenic flights are done at Weekends - Saturday & Sundays and on some Bank Holidays so early booking for a specific weekend date is recommended. Please note that our aircraft has annual maintenance every January so is unavailable for any flights.
